Elaine Muhammad is the Owner/ creative director of Urban Indulgence. Her journey into making healthier skincare products began after her daughter Nikela was diagnosed with Leukemia at age four. After her chemotherapy treatments and through her teenage years Nikela suffered with excessively dry skin and eczema. The steroid creams and ointments her dermatologist prescribed left her skin visibly scaly and rough.

Elaine began to research and seek out natural moisturizers. She focused on natural oils that were good for the skin and would help improve skin issues. Raw Shea butter was at the top of the list. The Shea Butter recipe she created for Nikela’s skin was very effective.

Her husband encouraged her to package the product and sell it. She began giving it as gifts and selling it to friends & family. Her products became an instant hit! Later she incorporated making other handmade items such as shea butter soaps, honey lip butters, lotions, deodorants, bath bombs, shampoos, and sugar scrubs.

She manufactures her skincare products in her production studio located at 3314 Poplar Ave Suite 4 which also houses a retail showroom where customers come to test out and shop for products.
